Im a native New Yorker

Thursday, December 22, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
One thing you can always say about this city…there are always things to see in New York! I’m a native New Yorker and the last time I ‘toured’ my own city , I was a young student. So I looked around…OMG! I rented a bike at Bike N Roll, did a walking tour with Uncle Sam’s walking tours, visited for Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum (embarrisingly for the first time). Also went to the Empire State Building Observation deck and the New York Skyride with a Combo ticket. I even managed an hour at the new CSI exhibit which was quite interesting though a bit pricey ( as most NY things are)

Even if you’re a native…this town always has stuff to do!

NY Skyride: Wow! Sight seeing should be your middle name. Also your right there is always something to do in this city for evey kind of budget.

expensive but worth it

Tuesday, September 27, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
The Empire State Building in NYC has to be one of the most unique places to visit. Having toured other famous towers, once you’ve visited the Empire Building, you’ll see why it’s one of New York City’s highlights.

I went twice – once to experience it by day and once by night. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? ABSOLUTELY! I could have saved some money if I had the NYC Pass which would have allowed me free admission at least one of the two times. There is nothing more spectacular than getting a real live panorama of the city on a clear night. Also combining it with the Skyride in the building saved time and money by buying a combo ticket.

NY Skyride: We are thrilled to hear of your great experience of saving time and money by purchasing the Skyride + Empire State Building Observation Deck Combo ticket. If interested in visiting us a third time, you can save even more by purchasing your NYC Pass here at our website.

beat the high price of helicopters

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
We toured the city on bicycle (Central Park Bicycle Rental), on foot (Uncle Sams Walking Tours) and by boat (Circle Line Cruises). But we couldn’t afford one of those 15 minute NYC helicopter tours (OMG-have you seen what it costs-yikes!). So next best thing we did was the New York SKYRIDE.

By buying Empire State Building tickets together with the Skyride we saved time and some money too. The guys on the street with the orange buttons and ID’s sell Combo tickets that were very worthwhile. I’m not a roller coaster fan but I enjoyed the ‘tour’ of the moving Skyride. Of course nothing beats the view from the Empire State Building Observation deck (just wish they had some guides up there!)

NY Skyride: Thank you Janice for your great review. And what an expert you are on NYC Sightseeing! We're glad you consider the city's only virtual tour simulator, NY Skyride a top attraction and an affordable and unique alternative to NYC Helicopter tours.

Uranquinty to New York

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
I have a number of children and one of them has always been particularly reserved. I pictured her getting married and having children, not trotting across the globe. Last year she finished high school and this year she has been studying child care. Ten weeks ago she left for Chicago to work on a camp for adults and children with cerebal palsy - with out knowing a single person. Next week she finishes at the camp and heads of for a week in New York - parting from all the wonderful friends she has made at camp. She has worked so hard - as have all of the kids who have been on the camp. Tickets to this game for 4 people would mean that she could take three other people from the backpackers lodge that she is staying at which would be fabulous. I know one of her goals was to go to a serious game while she was in the States. The very idea that this she has left our hometown of Uranquinty with a population of 715 people and landing in New York alone amazes me.

NY Skyride: Thank you for your entry Mollie. How proud you must be of your daughter and her brave travels! I encourage her backpackers lodge to contact us at reservations@skyride.com for group travel discounts to NY Skyride, the Empire State Building observation deck and other NYC tourist attractions during their stay here. Best of luck to winning!

A good spot for camps

Monday, August 8, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
Summer Camp NYC…it’s the camp director’s nightmare…where do we take the kids? Well what’s the one thing that local New York kids never get to do? Tours in New York City! You would be amazed how little young New Yorkers know about their town! Even more scary is how few adults ever visit their own backyard. They will fly 3,000 miles to Paris but ask them if they have ever visited Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in midtown.

I discovered a great package that I consider one of the best children’s tour in New York City. Try the combo package of the Skyride on the 2nd floor of the Empire State Building and the building’s famous Observatory. You can purchase Empire State Building tickets and tickets for the Skyride as a special combination price with lower prices for kids. These tickets are available on the Empire State Building and the New York Skyride .

Our campers loved the mix of entertainment with a bit of history and geography of the city in the first two movies. The last 15 minutes is the ride itself which, though a little dated, is a real fun experience for the kids. Followed by that is the time saving advantage of the COMBO ticket, something camps under time pressure will appreciate. Just a short wait and everyone will be under the magic visual spell of the famed Empire State Building Observatory – 86 floors above street level. What a view!

the Combo ticket IS a timesaver

Thursday, June 30, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
While researching for Empire State Building tickets I came across this attraction, the Skyride, in the building. After reading some of the reviews we decided to skip it. When we got to the building though, one of the street ticket sellers caught us and talked us into a combination ticket of the Skyride and the Empire State Building Observation deck.

It was a hot day and the seller escorted us in through a separate entrance at the side of the building. He ‘expressed’ us right in to the short Skyride line. When it was over I understood why people didn’t like it. All I can say is it was ok.

But here’s the part I liked best. When we were coming back down from the Observatory, we saw some people who we met when we first got to the building still waiting to go up! The Combination ticket really is a HUGE timesaver.

NY Skyride: Thank you, Brad!  Most people do not realize how much time they are saving because they never see the main ticket line for the Observatory on the north side of the building.  When buying a Combo ticket and entering at NY Skyride, you bypass this part of the line.

the kids want to go back!

Thursday, June 30, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
I only live 100 miles from New York with 2 younger kids and I was thinking…after the museums, what are fun things to do in New York? I mean I’ve done the Circle Line Cruises, the Statue of Liberty and other activities but I’ve never taken the kids to the Empire State Building in NYC!

So we jumped in the car, parked (actually found a free spot on the street on Sunday!) just one block from the building. Then some guys approach us and start selling us on this thing…the New York Skyride. I’m thinking “Am I being had?” So I figured – they had badges and ID and I used a credit card that I could always dispute and bought the COMBO package of the Empire State Building and the Skyride. One of the claims was we would be able to cut our wait to the famous Empire State Building Observation Deck…and that’s what the kids wanted to do most!

They walked us in the side entrance of the building and before we knew it we were going into the Skyride. All I can say is, it may be a little dated but the kids LOVED it!! It was like those NYC helicopter tours but with out the helicopter ticket price!! After half an hour it was up to the Observatory – we couldn’t have asked for a better day – you could see for miles. My only challenge was that there are no guides and no one to ask any questions…bummer. After half an hour we went back down, had lunch and took a leisurely drive home.

It’s 2 weeks later and the kids are asking to go back!

NY Skyride: Happy to hear you had a great time!  We look forward to seeing you again.

Great fun in New York City

Monday, May 23, 2011 by NY Skyride Stories
I was looking online for fun things to do in New York for me and my friend and her kids to experience last weekend, and so I figured why not get some Empire State Building tickets. We did. We visited the building and the Skyride and had so much fun. The kids loved the Skyride especially the roller coaster part and since we went at night there was hardly a wait time to go to the top of the building. I really had a great time that night in New York City.
