Just saw the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! WOW!Talk about fun things to do in New York! Always watched it on TV as a kid but never saw it live!! We needed something to do afterwards with the kids so walked south a few blocks and did the Skyride and the Empire State Building Observation Deck, both open on Thanksgiving. New York is truly the city that never sleeps!

For eco minded folks like me looking for fun things to do in new York, I did a couple of walking tours. For no particular reason, after looking at their reviews on tripadvisor I settled on Uncle Sam’s New York. I did two 2 hour tours with them. After going on the SKYRIDE and the Empire State Building, I sort of picked out 2 areas that I thought would be of interest. One was the South Street seaport and the other was the Alexander Hamilton Financial tour.
As a former native New Yorker I came with a bit of concern if this would really be interesting. Those concerns were immediately allayed as their guides were terrific and the tours were most interesting and entertaining. While there are smartphone applications and guide books, both of which are informative, there is nothing like a human talking to you to make the experience complete.
NY Skyride: It's great to hear you enjoyed your tour! With so many fun things to do in New York, a walking tour does make a great compliment to NY Skyride.

Like nostalgia? Then the New York Skyride is for you! This ‘state of the art’ ride is just that…except back in 1995.
HOWEVER…
It really is still a lot of fun providing visitors and native New Yorkers a ride akin to one of the NYC helicopter tours. It’s movin’ and shakin’ are fun and give an overall perspective to how New York was 15 years ago. I mean remember the old Yankee Stadium? Or the street hawkers with the watches in the pockets? How about a 1995 Chevy Caprice taxi! Still the Skyride is unique and for things to see in New York, especially with kids, I wouldn’t pass it up.
NY Skyride: Thank you for your feedback! When looking for fun things to do in New York, especially for families, our virtual tour simulator is a must experience.

I raised Red Sox fans but they married Yankees fans. Guess what, they became New York Yankee Fans. They love their spouses!
NY Skyride: Thank you for your entry Susan. With all of the fun things to do in New York I wish you luck on winning our Yankee tickets. Perhaps to donate to your in-laws!

I remember as a college kid coming to NYC on a New York Student Travel trip. We did a New York City bus tour (I think it was a company called Apple Tours, a double decker bus company now defunct). We also did a 2 hour cruise on the famous Circle Line boats on the Hudson River as well as one or two hours on their neighbor, the historic Intrepid Museum, a converted WWII aircraft carrier.
The trip was very memorable and I am going to repeat the trip with my girlfriend this summer. The only difference is I’m going to buy a NYC Pass. This is a super great deal where you can get over 100 things to do for one set price! I’ll tell you how great it is on another blog.
NY Skyride: New York student travel is always fun and easy with a New York City bus tour. I'm glad your bust trip and your visit to Circle Line Cruises and Intrepid Museum were so memorable for you. And yes! The NYC City Pass is a great way to see multiple NYC tourist attractions in one, two or seven days. Feel free to purchase your passes right here on our website and remember - start your day early. Our virtual tour simulator opens at 8AM and so does the Empire State Building observation deck. Have fun!

We visit from Israel and we do tours NYC. Too much fun and not too much sleep because there is so many things to see in new york! With restarants and bars and so much to see who had time to sleep. We save for years to visit new york and it was worth it but so much money!
We visited museums, boats, seeport, statue of liberty, empire state bilding and the new york skiride. We hope we come again soon.
NY Skyride: There really are alot of awesome things to see in New York, and and while it's impossible to see every New York City tourist attraction in one visit, we're so glad you got to see so many of them including us! To save money on your next trip, come back to this website and book a two day NYC pass or a New York City bus tour and explore even more!

Summer Camp NYC…it’s the camp director’s nightmare…where do we take the kids? Well what’s the one thing that local New York kids never get to do? Tours in New York City! You would be amazed how little young New Yorkers know about their town! Even more scary is how few adults ever visit their own backyard. They will fly 3,000 miles to Paris but ask them if they have ever visited Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in midtown.
I discovered a great package that I consider one of the best children’s tour in New York City. Try the combo package of the Skyride on the 2nd floor of the Empire State Building and the building’s famous Observatory. You can purchase Empire State Building tickets and tickets for the Skyride as a special combination price with lower prices for kids. These tickets are available on the Empire State Building and the New York Skyride .
Our campers loved the mix of entertainment with a bit of history and geography of the city in the first two movies. The last 15 minutes is the ride itself which, though a little dated, is a real fun experience for the kids. Followed by that is the time saving advantage of the COMBO ticket, something camps under time pressure will appreciate. Just a short wait and everyone will be under the magic visual spell of the famed Empire State Building Observatory – 86 floors above street level. What a view!

I only live 100 miles from New York with 2 younger kids and I was thinking…after the museums, what are fun things to do in New York? I mean I’ve done the Circle Line Cruises, the Statue of Liberty and other activities but I’ve never taken the kids to the Empire State Building in NYC!
So we jumped in the car, parked (actually found a free spot on the street on Sunday!) just one block from the building. Then some guys approach us and start selling us on this thing…the New York Skyride. I’m thinking “Am I being had?” So I figured – they had badges and ID and I used a credit card that I could always dispute and bought the COMBO package of the Empire State Building and the Skyride. One of the claims was we would be able to cut our wait to the famous Empire State Building Observation Deck…and that’s what the kids wanted to do most!
They walked us in the side entrance of the building and before we knew it we were going into the Skyride. All I can say is, it may be a little dated but the kids LOVED it!! It was like those NYC helicopter tours but with out the helicopter ticket price!! After half an hour it was up to the Observatory – we couldn’t have asked for a better day – you could see for miles. My only challenge was that there are no guides and no one to ask any questions…bummer. After half an hour we went back down, had lunch and took a leisurely drive home.
It’s 2 weeks later and the kids are asking to go back!
NY Skyride: Happy to hear you had a great time! We look forward to seeing you again.

My comment here is simple: The Skyride is a little old and dated but I enjoyed it and the kids LOVED it. We came to have fun in the city and the Skyride was just that…fun. Not sophisticated by today’s technology, not 3D or IMAX, just a nice half hour presentation with a 15 minute moving ride .
For fun things to do in New York I would recommend it.
NY Skyride: We are New York's only virtual tour simulator and still one of the most popular NYC tourist attractions. Thank you for your appreciation....it is greatly received. The simulator we use at NY Skyride is the only one of its kind in the world. We take great pride in maintaining and operating it. We try to keep it running like new!

Looking for things to see in New York that are NOT Top 10 but are a little unusual? I did Ripley’s Museum – that’s weird stuff. You can also check out the Bodies exhibit, recently upgraded but still not good for the squeamish type. Dead Apple Tours takes you on a fantastic trip on a specially converted 1960 Cadillac Hearse. I’ll leave you to guess what the tour is about.
If you’re here for a longer trip, take a break for a day at one of the New York Water Taxi beaches available at the Seaport and in Queens. For a simulated NYC helicopter tour that is part story and part touristy hop a ride on the New York Skyride at the Empire State Building. While on the ride topic, try the new bus called THE RIDE, really cool (but expensive) and a little quirky way to do sightseeing in New York.
NY Skyride: Wow...you really know New York! I am guessing that you are an experienced NYC tourist. Thanks for the tips.

The best thing to do if you want fun things to do in New York is get a NYC pass where you can get into almost all tours in new york city for one price. Our first stop was the Empire State Building Observatory and we also did the Skyride which I thought was very unique and my kids really got a kick out of. After that we went to Times Square to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. By the end of the day (we had a 1 day pass) we went to 7 attractions! My family and I really had a fun time in NYC.

I was looking online for fun things to do in New York for me and my friend and her kids to experience last weekend, and so I figured why not get some Empire State Building tickets. We did. We visited the building and the Skyride and had so much fun. The kids loved the Skyride especially the roller coaster part and since we went at night there was hardly a wait time to go to the top of the building. I really had a great time that night in New York City.

Empire State Building Observation Deck is the first place all my out-of-town friends and family wants to see. So, I always make sure they first see it from a distance with the different color lights and then take them to the top to see the rest of NYC for New York City sightseeing.
